Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a website?
A website provides information and communication to your customers when you can't be available, making routine information on your products and services available 24/7.
Why do I have to pay for a domain name and hosting?
A domain name is the "store sign" for your business while the hosting is the "office space". A website needs both items to be available.
Why do I need another email address? I already have one.
You may have an email address that you set up with your ISP (Internet Service Provider), but having an email address match your website URL is more professional looking. Creating this email address is included in our services and can be set up to be forwarded to your personal email address as well as creating a mailbox for it.
How are design fees calculated?
Design fees are calculated by pages, type of content and external services(such as shopping carts), and soft copy vs. hard copy content.
Why can't I see a price list for your services?
Prices are estimated on a case by case basis. So, it is best to make contact with us and request a free quote.
How much do you charge to create a website?
The prices for our web design services vary from project to project. Every website we develop is completely unique because every business we deal with is completely unique.
How important is a "Maintenance Contract"?
A website is a 'living document' similar to the U.S. Constitution, so it is important to keep it current. Here at Sierra Morning Website Design, we charge a monthly fee for making routine updates on your site.
What are "Members Only" pages and how can they be used?
Members Only pages require a username and password to enter the page. This is helpful for members of a club, frequent customers, or even your employees who need specific forms and information.
How long will it take to create my website?
Depending upon our schedule, a small web design project could be completed in 2 or 3 days. However, when research, planning, design, graphics, programming and testing are required for more complex sites it can take 3 to 4 weeks or longer. The best answer to this question depends on the complexity of the project.
Do I need to buy any computer equipment for my website?
No. However, if you don't have any equipment (which is very rare), you most likely will want an inexpensive basic system. This will allow you review your website online and/or use e-mail to correspond with your present and prospective customers. You will also need an Internet connection.
What makes a good website good?
A good website begins with a well-planned framework (including usability and accessibility considerations). It is paired with a goal-driven design and a consistent dependable maintenance plan. Finally, before going public, it needs an online marketing strategy, SEO (search engine optimization), and excellent ISP services (Internet Service Provider).
What makes a bad website bad?
A bad website has no consistent color scheme, no plan for the created pages, and no plan for the images or text. Pages sometimes scroll for several screens due to lack of planning and no consideration for browser or screen resolution differences. This lack of planning will cause pages to be much longer than necessary and will take much longer to load.
